Conservation grazing with goats mimics the ecological role that would have been naturally held by wild herbivores historically found in the landscape. The unique grazing and browsing behaviour of our native breed Royal Golden Guernsey goats leaves a healthy natural mosaic with varied sward length whilst controlling dominant species such as brambles, bracken and gorse, and invasive species such as Himalayan balsam, which are not often tackled by other species of livestock. This allows more delicate species to thrive and areas restored to create habitats that are more able to support biodiverse and bioabundant ecosystems. Goats are light on the ground and very agile, helping to minimise poaching and compaction, and make them perfectly suited to steep and rough terrain.
